Bargain Farm: 1250 McQuay

January 3, 2012 , In: Residential Properties , With: No Comments

Dreaming of your own Green Acres? Here’s your chance to buy a hobby farm right here in St. Louis County, all for the absurdly low price of just $20,000. This hidden gem of a property is tucked away in a quiet, rural corner of Spanish Lake, and it comes with a large farmhouse, multiple outbuildings and an acre of land.

I actually met the family who used to live here, when I bought some firewood from them a few years ago. They were “back to the land” types who raised horses and chickens, and grew an enormous garden. They paid $120,000 for the house back in 2003, when it came with an additional acre next door. I’m not sure what happened between then and now, but sadly, the property went into foreclosure and is now government-owned.

I know the house needs some updating and TLC, but $20,000? Come on! This is a total bargain, and I really hope somebody jumps on it and uses it for something cool. It would make a great plant nursery, along the lines of the late, great Maxwell Homestead. Or perhaps you could use it to go self-sufficient…

If you’d like a buyer’s agent to show you this lovely mini farm with so many possibilities, I’d be happy to help!
