50s Fixer Upper: 1442 Fairbrook

It may not look like much from the outside, and that’s probably why it’s still unsold after six months, but this 1958 ranch in Des Peres is hiding a fabulous interior. The main living area is classic mid-century modern, with vaulted ceilings, a see-through fireplace and a dramatic wall of windows. All this house needs is a little freshening up.

Of course, many of the original 1950s homes in Harwood Hills have been torn down to make way for McMansions, so this place may face a similar fate. I’m just hoping somebody can look past its dated decor and slab foundation and work some DIY magic…

If you’d like a buyer’s agent to show you this cool vintage house, which sits on nearly a half acre, I’d be happy to help!
