Thursday Medley: 8/9/12

0

Whew! What a busy week. I’m running way behind on my Monday Medley! But no worries, you’ll still love these unique properties three days late…

401 Benton, Festus – I have to be honest, Festus isn’t really my neck of the woods, so I don’t know much about this neighborhood. But I’m instantly drawn to this quirky 1963 ranch every time I see it on the MLS. The house has some great space for entertaining both inside & out, and the yard is huge and fenced, with easy access to a whopper of a garage. I just wish I could pick it up and move it to Ferguson! 1132 square feet, $140,000, listing courtesy of Dana Marshall, Coldwell Banker Gundaker.

3846 Waco, Normandy –  Here’s a sweet little underdog that I hope somebody can rescue. It’s a solid, nicely maintained 1955 brick ranch that has a whole lot of great features and one that, frankly, stinks. Or at least looks worse than it is. On the upside, the house is on a nice street within walking/biking distance of UMSL & Metrolink. It has good-sized rooms, a lovely backyard, and a FABULOUS basement with super tall ceilings and a fireplace. There’s also a backup generator!  You’ll probably want to update the kitchen, but the bigger problem is this: 3846 Waco sits downhill from the street. If you can roll with that – on a bicycle, perhaps – you could get a real bargain! 1170 square feet (not including finished, walkout basement), $59,900, listing courtesy of Floyd Graham, United Realty.

7575 Skullbones, Dittmer – Ah, summer camp! I have such fond memories of Caesar Soete’s magical “Forty Legends” near Washington, Missouri, I wish I could open my own “simple-living” camp and get back to nature! I’ve been watching this place on the MLS for months, and I am so tempted to drive down there! It’s 82 acres with a main lodge, multiple outbuildings, old hiking trails, a creek, an inground pool, and much more. It does need some TLC but it’s also less than an hour from St. Louis.

Ping pong, anyone? $312,000, listing courtesy of Peggy Stewart, Coldwell Banker Gundaker.

14800 Private Drive 1122, St James – Somewhere, there’s a buyer who will go absolutely nuts for “My Little Yellow House” – this cheerful newer home in St. James, MO. But I bet it’s not a dude. The interior is fun & colorful, but also very girly. So if you’re looking for a life-size “doll house,” be sure to follow the listing link below to see additional pics.

1665 square feet, $174,900, listing courtesy of Annie Bass, Acar Bass & Voss Realtors.

1111 Craig, Kirkwood – OK, this last house is for all the renters out there. If you can’t afford to buy mid-century modern, you can always lease! This four-bedroom beauty in the classic Craig Woods subdivision is freshly updated and ready for a new tenant. It even has a pool! 1410 square feet, $1675/month, listing courtesy of Jerry Davis, Margaret Caradine Wright.

If you’d like a buyer’s agent to show you any of these unique properties, give me a call!
