I’ve been in love with this house for 20+ years, so I was thrilled when it hit the MLS yesterday! Unfortunately, somebody else must’ve been swooning over this place too, because it went under contract almost immediately. I previewed it for a client today but it looks like another buyer will probably land the prize. Oh well. At least I have a few photos to share…
Built in 1941, this Art Deco treasure sits on a prime lot in the gorgeous Bellerive Acres subdivision next to UMSL. Its most distinctive feature is a three-level rotunda, which forms two circular living spaces and one circular bedroom.
If you stand in the center of the living room and talk, it produces some very interesting acoustics. You don’t get the same effect in the basement, probably because the ceilings are lower, but there’s a treat down there nonetheless – a finished living area with a stone fireplace, built-in bar, cozy library nook and super cool mosaic tile floor….
One level up, you can climb this beautiful Art Deco staircase to the second floor and find another original feature: one very swanky vintage bathroom.
Not only is it huge, but it has a sunken tub, a separate shower and most of the original fixtures (in excellent condition). It’s hard to tell from this photo but the tiles are actually butter and bronze!
And check out these fab switchplates…
I almost hate to admit that this amazing house also comes with an inground pool and a rooftop deck. Also that’s it’s listed for just $179,900! But that is indeed the case here, and some lucky buyer is about to land a real score! I just wish it was me!
69 Bellerive Acres has 3 bedrooms & 2.5 baths in 2517 square feet. It’s listed courtesy of Bob Camenzind, Secure Asset Services.
If the first contract happens to fall through and you’d like to see this one-of-a-kind house in person, give me a call!
