As a real estate agent, you never know who you’re going to meet when you’re out and about. This morning, I stopped by Local Harvest Cafe in Tower Grove South and wound up touring a house for sale across the street. The owner is trying to sell it himself, and he invited me in to take a look.
His property is literally two blocks from Tower Grove Park, sitting on a double lot right in the heart of the Morganford business district. It has 8 rooms & 1.5 baths in about 2200 square feet, and there’s even a two-car garage. The only catch: it’s definitely a fixer-upper.
The owner has invested in some decent updates over the years (AC, roof, plumbing, etc), but for the most part, the house needs a very good scrub and a lot of overdue maintenance. Which is why the price just dropped from $150k to $130k!
Given its size and location, this would make an awesome live/work property. In fact, the owner has been approached by a number of entrepreneurs hoping to open a bar, bakery or other retail venue, but so far nothing has worked out. He doesn’t really want to move but he needs to for personal reasons, so he would probably consider less than the asking price.
Who knows? All I can say for sure is that his lot is quite large by city standards – a wonderful private oasis with a courtyard feel. And his house is a bit unkept, but it sure does have awesome potential and a truly fabulous locale.
If you’d like a buyer’s agent to show you this unique 1920s home, which could really shine with a little TLC, give me a call!
