Boxy Brown: 1005 West Frisco

April 2, 2013 , In: Residential Properties , With: No Comments

If you like to keep an eye out for Mid-Century Modern, you probably spotted this brand new listing yesterday. I was the first agent to show it, and it’s definitely a very cool house. Built in 1957, it’s basically a long, boxy California-style ranch with a wall of windows, sitting on a sweet 1/3-acre lot in Oakland.

The current owner has been there 55 years, so the space has been customized to her needs. But I would probably be tempted to use the rooms a little differently, maybe shift the master bedroom to the other side of the house and/or add a window in the second bedroom. There is no basement here, and the “flow” is frankly a little choppy, but there’s no question this place has great potential.

Do I wish it was further away from Highway 44? Yes. But could I deal with the noise while I lounge in my inground pool? Absolutely.

1005 West Frisco has 2 bedrooms & 2 baths in 1622 square feet. It was listed yesterday by Jan Titchen, Coldwell Banker, for $179,900. (And if you click that bold listed link, you can see more photos!)

If you’d like a buyer’s agent to show you this unique vintage house, give me a call!
