Oh my! Now HERE is a house to kick off the new year!!
I’ve admired this streamline 1956 abode for as long as I can remember, always wondering who designed it and what the story is. Well, I still don’t know that (yet) but I can tell you for sure that this is a mid-century sleeper at a FANTASTIC price!
If you’re a modernist fan and your work/life takes you anywhere near UMSL or Express Scripts, you MUST see this place! I wish the photos were better. I hope to take some new ones myself. But cruddy pics and a 63121 zip mean this house is probably way off the radar. Lucky you!
915 Bermuda has 3 bedrooms & 4 baths in a whopping 3751 square feet. It sits on .96 acre, has a garage for 6+ cars, and is within a stone’s throw of Metrolink, the Ted Jones Bike Trail and the Wayside Community Garden. It was listed yesterday by Karen Smith, Karen Smith Realty, for $89,000.
If you’d like a buyer’s agent to show you this unique vintage property, which is being sold as a possible short sale, give me a call…
UPDATE, 1/26: I showed this house earlier in the week. WOW! From what I’ve heard, it was built for a doctor, and the level of quality is certainly evident. This place is in fair condition, needing quite a bit of work, but the original mid-century workmanship and materials still shine through…
The exterior masonry is exceptional, as is the woodwork inside. The main staircase (made of walnut?) and the living room ceiling are especially striking.
The grand scale of the dining room is also pretty impressive…
If it wasn’t so darn cold the day I was there, I would’ve taken more photos, including pics of the cavernous basement. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever seen a tuck-under garage as enormous as this one! People could get lost in there!
I’d show it to you in person, but alas, several buyers have already made an offer and the seller is supposed to choose one Monday. It is a short sale though, and the house needs a lot of TLC, so who knows if the deal with fall through? If you want to stay in the loop in case it does, let me know:
