Grab Bag: a Few Retro Gems for Friday

March 7, 2014 , In: Residential Properties , With: No Comments

In my travels this week, I’ve run across a handful of houses that can only be described as retro-fabulous! They certainly won’t appeal to everyone, but if you’re like me and you appreciate a little vintage flavor, you just might find a diamond in this mix.

First up is the 1974 beauty above. Located in a great NoCo neighborhood not far from where I grew up, this house is unique with a capital U. It has a spiral staircase, a spacepod shower and pretty much original decor throughout. It also backs to woods and sits on a quiet, dead end street. 6828 Champaigne Lane has 3 bedrooms & 3 baths in 1900sf. It’s listed by Sylvia Zimmerman, RE/MAX, for $125,000.

Looking for a large home with retro style in Kirkwood? Then you better think pink! This 1961 two-story is being sold by the original owners, and it’s still rocking a serious Mad Man vibe, with a pink oven and range, a classic pink bathroom and an aqua bathroom that’s pretty sweet too! 21 Wingfield has 4 bedrooms & 2.5 baths in 2227sf. It was just listed yesterday by Susan Schiff, RE/MAX, for $310,000.

OK, so a lot of the “retro” has actually been updated in this 1947 ranch, but I’m including it for three reasons: 1) gorgeous knotty pine, 2) charming built-ins, 3) the huge BARN out back! That’s right, this old homestead sits on nearly an acre in unincorporated SoCo and could make a wonderful suburban mini farm! Bring your chickens! 4511 Von Talge has 3 bedrooms & 1.5 baths in 1813sf. It was listed 6 days ago as a foreclosure by Rhonda Overberg, RE/MAX, for $184,900.

Here’s another mid-century house on acreage, and the vintage tile work is absolutely adorable! This 1959 original-owner ranch has a great Crestwood location and is also mini farm-friendly with 1.2 acres. I especially like the second little cottage out back, which would make an awesome studio or office! So much potential!! 8601 Old Sappington Road has 2 bedrooms & 1 bath in 896sf (with plenty of room to add on). It was listed 2 days ago by Rose Hefele, Coldwell Banker Gundaker, for $154,900.

If you’d like a buyer’s agent to show you any of these properties, give me a call. This is also a great time for sellers, so I’d be happy to run some numbers for you!
