No matter where you live, every neighborhood has that one house that’s totally prime – the cool, stylish place on a big, sweet lot that everybody wishes they could own. Of course, those houses almost never go up for sale, and when they do, they’re often way beyond the average budget. But in this case, regarding a property that I have personally drooled over for 30 years, the numbers are actually not so bad.
If you’re familiar with the Black Jack area, you know this place. It’s the huge horse farm on Parker Road with cross fencing and a big pond. I have wanted to own it since grade school, and it just went up for sale today.
There are many reasons why this property rocks, but perhaps the most important is that it’s one of the largest old farm parcels left in North County. Part of the original estate of Reuben Musick, a ferryboat operator and tavern/inn owner who in 1861 was considered St. Louis County’s wealthiest man, 4105 Parker Road has resisted decades of suburban development to remain a true oasis with a country feel.
Over 7.76 acres of land, it has a five-stall horse barn, an inground pool, three garage spaces, and not one but TWO houses. Both are vintage and need some updating and TLC, but just think of the potential! You could live in one and rent the other for income!
And for those thinking, no way North County….don’t be so quick to judge. This is a very nice section of Parker Road, with convenient shopping @ Cross Keys just up the street. And good luck finding a similar property at this price anywhere else in the county…
