Time Capsule: 2301 Charwood

January 23, 2013 , In: Residential Properties , With: No Comments

In a market where many buyers insist on granite countertops and all the usual modern updates, I am always delighted to find an outlier….that rare vintage house that defies time and changing trends to remain exactly how it was decades ago.

This 1968 brick ranch in the city of St. Charles is one such gem. And while the interior is certainly not for everyone, I am totally charmed by this retro home, which kinda reminds me of the house from Bewitched. At least on the inside…

When I see the pics, I think of the colorful 60s & 70s decorating books I often see at estate sales. Dated decor, yes indeed. But definitely warm and cozy with good bones and a nice layout.

And get this: there are three master bedrooms and three master baths! Each more gloriously “preserved” than the next…

There’s also a second kitchen in the walkout basement, along with a second living room that opens to the half-acre yard…

So basically, if you can roll with the retro flavor, you can get a big ol’ brick house in a super convenient location! The only drawbacks, in my opinion: the price is a bit high and the yard backs to Highway 70. But this is still a great mid-century find not far from Lindenwood University, and I bet somebody snags this rough old diamond in no time!

2301 Charwood Street has 3 bedrooms & 3 baths in 1956 square feet. It’s listed by Cheryl Cooper, Prudential Select, for $187,500.

If you’d like a buyer’s agent to show you this unique vintage home, which comes with original blueprints and 45 years worth of receipts and meticulous records, give me a call!
